FYI, Nancy Pelosi: I Fund Me

Posted on August 28, 2010. Filed under: National | Tags: , , |

And Nancy Pelosi said:

“There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded,” she said. “How is this being ginned up that here we are talking about Treasure Island, something we’ve been working on for decades, something of great interest to our community as we go forward to an election about the future of our country and two of the first three questions are about a zoning issue in New York City.”

I have had to ponder this statement by the soon to be lame duck Speaker of the House.

I have been so busy at work the past two weeks that haven’t had time to do much but ponder her statement. I haven’t even had time to check in on how I feel about the Ground Zero Mosque.

Better late than never.

First, this is not a freedom to worship issue. We all know that deep in our hearts. I think the liberal left might even know it too. It doesn’t matter to them, however, as that doesn’t fit into their agenda.

Secondly, if you do a little research, you realize the imam building the mosque is a radical cleric.

Thirdly, the entire purpose of building a mosque that close to Ground Zero is to rub salt into the wounds of the surviving families of 9-11 victims and the rest of the United States in general.

Pelosi’s statement shows what a flaming dumbass she really is.

Come on Pelosi, investigate me for opposing the mosque.

You will find that I work my ass off each and every day to keep my job and provide for my husband and myself.

You will find I pay my bills with the money I’ve earned from honest labor, even though it is getting harder and harder to do thanks to YOUR irresponsible fiscal policies.

You will find that I pay my taxes, unlike some of your buddies in Congress.

You will find that my travel is confined to going to work, the grocery store and doctor visits for my husband. I don’t take vacations to Martha’s Vineyard or Spain.

You will find that I work ,and  work and then work some more. I’m just like millions of people in this country who work and take care of their families and try to do the right thing.

You will find that I’m one of the millions of American’s who sat spellbound in horror in front of our televisions on September 11, 2001 and saw our great nation under attack.

Nancy Pelosi: I am an American. I fund myself. I love my country.

I oppose the mosque at Ground Zero.

And I oppose you.

Obama’s Health Care Catastrophe

Posted on August 21, 2010. Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: , , |

Nancy Pelosi said we would have to read the health care bill to learn what was in it. I haven’t had the time to go through the monstrosity and supporting studies, but Peter Farrara at The American Spectator has.

He reports in his article, The Obamacare Disaster:

The bottom line is that you will lose your health care under this legislation, if not your job, your country as they bankrupt America, and maybe ultimately your life or the life of a loved one. All that to make dreamy, emotionalized, liberals happy, even though many of them are not happy because the socialism in the bill is not overt enough. Moreover, the promises made to the American people to pass the bill are shown in the study to be thoroughly false. This pattern of calculated deception, however, did not fool the American people, only members of Congress, many of whom will now pay with their jobs as a result. (snip)…

Contrary to President Obama’s rhetoric, the Obamacare legislation involves precisely the thorough government takeover of health care. It creates 159 new bureaucracies, agencies, boards, commissions, and programs to rule over health care in America. Government authorities are empowered to tell doctors and hospitals what is quality health care and what is not, what are best practices in medicine, how their medical practices should be structured, and what they will be paid and when. Government authorities will mandate exactly what health insurance with what benefits workers and employers must buy, and the Act imposes tax penalties on them if they do not comply. Government authorities will dictate to insurance companies exactly what health insurance they must sell, to whom they must sell it, and what they can charge. Obamacare even redistributes premium income among insurers under a new "risk adjustment" mechanism.

He goes on to explain the insurance cost increases brought on by the law.

Counting just some of these cost increases, one study concludes that under Obamacare a typical family health insurance policy costing $12,300 today will cost $17,200 by 2013, $21,300 by 2016, and $25,900 by 2019. Another study concludes that insurance costs for young (up to 40) and healthy workers will double and triple in many cases.

Cutting Medicare payments to doctors and hospitals will diminish care for seniors and the poor:

As the government clamps down on private insurers as well as on payments from Medicare and Medicaid, the incentives for essential investment to maintain current facilities, expand and open new ones, and invest in and build out new innovations and breakthroughs, will be eviscerated. Investment in human capital as well as physical capital in health care will plummet, as doctors and other professionals increasingly flee health care. This effective decline in the supply of health care in the face of increasing demand will mean even higher prices and costs.

The study further explains how several provisions of Obamacare give insurers, doctors, and hospitals incentives to deny and ration health care to patients. A central component of the traditional high standard of living in America has been the best, most advanced, cutting edge health care in the world. No more. Obamacare is part of the declining standard of living for America.

The law creates 159 new agencies, commissions, boards, bureaucracies and agencies. I guess that’s some of the “new jobs” Obama talks about.

Obama Fiddles While Our Economy Burns

Posted on August 20, 2010. Filed under: National | Tags: , , , , |

The King and his Queen are on vacation, again. Meanwhile, back in the kingdom, unemployment is still at 9.5% with no drop in sight. An increase in lay-offs to 500,000 this week makes the “recovery summer” look like a  sick joke to this old gal.

I personally know people who have been out of work for 18 months and seem to have no hope of finding work anytime soon. Here in Western North Carolina jobs are hard to come by when the economy in booming. This recession has doomed almost everyone on the job hunt to taking jobs the illegal Mexicans don’t want. These days, we can’t even find those jobs.

I got lucky and missed the lay-off bullet at my workplace. Now we do have more work, but are under staffed. We have begged our employer to hire some help. That’s out of the question however, because a) the economy is still so shaky, and b) because of all the new government regulations regarding health care and additional taxes. They are not going to hire anyone right now unless they absolutely have too.

While our King and Queen play, we work in a factory that can’t afford to replace failing air conditioners. We work ourselves to death in the resulting heat because we are trying to do 100% of the work with 30% fewer people on machinery that can’t be upgraded or repaired.

While the King and Queen play we give up time with our families to try to make a living. The money we earn doesn’t go far. Despite what we are being told about low to no inflation; prices keep going up.

Now we hear that lay-offs are back. Eventually our customers’ will have their inventories restocked and we will once again be fearful of lay-off’s or worst, our plant closing. We are on borrowed time and we know it.

The country is going down the toilet financially. That doesn’t seem to matter to the power hungry, spending crazed democrat administration though. They keep pushing through their big spending bills and then look to finance them on the backs of the poor.  Taking money from the Food Stamp Program to cover the ass of the teacher’s union was just plain wrong.

Now they want to start mangling Social Security.

Many of us who have worked hard all our lives on low paying jobs need Social Security. It is the only retirement income we have. Those who receive Social Security are currently suffering from a freeze in cost of living increases put in place by the Obama Administration. There was no cost of living adjustment for 2010 and will be none for 2011.

Currently under discussion are proposals to cut benefits and cost of living raises (again?); raise the retirement age, and raise taxes to pay for benefits. All measures that would not have been necessary had the government not raided the Social Security Trust Fund in the past. Now that cookie jar is nearly empty and the panic has begun.

I hope the King and Queen enjoy their vacation on Martha’s Vineyard. The rich and famous must have their play-time you know. Meanwhile we will work, sweat and worry each and every day about what is going to happen to us and our grandchildren as we pay for their play-time for years to come.
